The Couples Diet Tips

Sometimes I find it hard to be the only one in the house who’s eating strangely or barely eating at all. Seeing all the others around me and realizing they couldn’t care less that I am trying hard to stay away from various sorts of temptations and that they continue to add to the shopping list stuff like cream cookies, chocolate, pork ribs and many many other unhealthy and calorie-full foods, I am quite tempted to give in and forget all about that ideal figure, since no one else seems to care.
It’s very hard not to gain weight when everyone around me is a gourmand. So, I simply decided to stop buying stuff they wanted. If they still wanted to eat sweets and fat meat, they had to go and get it for themselves. My husband did that for a while, until he got bored of the numerous trips to the department store, since he always kept forgetting to buy something. That was the proper moment of suggesting something I’ve heard of for a long time: the couple’s diet.
After all, where there a two, there’s double strength. At least at first. The hard part will be convincing your partner to undergo such an alimentary program, but if you leave him no choice, he will soon start eating the food you eat and subject himself to this diet without even realizing.
At this point, you need to choose a diet that is no too restrictive. My idea was to simply change our lifestyle completely, starting with eating habits. So, we weren’t actually taking a strict diet, we were just avoiding unhealthy foods, and quietly reducing the number of calories we were consuming every day.
The couple’s diet offers lots of advantages. The first thing that occurred to me is that I no longer felt excluded. Coming home from work with a huge hunger sensation and seeing my husband gorging himself on a huge portion of French fries when all I was allowed to eat was a salad or a fat free yogurt wasn’t very nice. In fact, this is the very thing that made me gave up all the diets I’ve tried, because all the temptations were at hand.
The second obvious advantage of the couple’s diet was the fact that giving up became harder when the two of us were involved. When one of us was ready to give up and forget about it, the other one came saying “NO, we have to keep going.”
With this diet, we got to spend more time together and started enjoying activities like cooking all the new strange recipes we never tried before. We soon turned this no so restrictive diet into a lifestyle, and we simply tired to stay away from fats and sweets. But I’ve read that there are couple who try together hard diets, like the ones with grapefruit or watermelons. So, anything is possible, as long as there’s communication. But be ware because the man will always manage to lose more weight in the same period of time, because men have more muscles and women more water based tissues. So don’t feel demoralized if you are not the first one to declare goal achieved.
The Dislocated Diet – NOT a Healthy Weight Loss Diet

I am writing this to strongly advice you against the dislocated diet and any of its derivates. I have tried this diet just a month ago, and I am still feeling side effects. There are many types of diets that resemble the dislocated diet, and this isn’t in any way a healthy weight loss program. After finishing the diet, I’ve registered a loss of 15 pounds in two weeks, but the costs were immense, as I was feeling really bad and weak. I was getting tired very often, so I went to my doctor and he explained all the bad things that happened to my body while I was taking this diet.
The dislocated diet and all its derivates are based on the principle that each food, if consumed individually, will not cause you to gain weight. So, by consuming only a group of aliments at each meal (or during a day, depending of the method chosen) you will manage to lose weight, eating without restrictions and in any quantity.
During a week, each day is associated with a type of aliments (meat, fruits, eggs, fish, and vegetables). For example, if you want to eat only diary products on Monday, you will be eating them from breakfast until dinner.
If you choose a daily diet, them you will have to eat a single food at each meal. Because it offers greater variety during a day, this option is the most popular.
The main idea of the dislocated diet is that the fullness state is faster achieved if only one aliment is consumed. In other words, we will get bored fast of a single group of aliments, while appetite might get stimulated by associating different aliments. This means we eat less, so we lose weight. It’s obvious why this type of behavior is not recommended for the long term, because it can trigger important deficits and can cause lose of muscle and of health in general. I wish I was aware of any of this in time, but not I’m trying to stay away from any type of strange diets that forbid normal and healthy aliments.
The weight loss is obvious, because the lack of variety from each meal causes lost of appetite and reduces the food quantity we eat. Even if this diet seems balanced, in truth it is not, and dislocating aliments will minimize their assimilation and conduct to long term states of malnutrition and weakness. This diet has many disadvantages, and I am living proof for many of them, because I didn’t do my homework right before starting it:
- The apparition of a boomerang effect, when the diet is over. I’ve gained all the weight loss in just one week! That is a sad side effect indeed…
- Muscles and internal organs are weakened during the days we consume only fruits of vegetables, because they lack proteins. As I man, I am well aware of my muscular tissues, and now I’m sure I’ve lost almost half the power in my muscles.
- A tiredness sensation will make itself felt. I needed to sleep more and more with each day passing.
- The diet is not adapted for an active person. I always had trouble taking it while at work.
- The diet does not have a scientific base: the sugars, fats and proteins we eat are subjected to the same digestion process, regardless of the moment we eat them or if they are eaten separately or together. If only I knew this before staring it.
A healthy diet should be diversified. It should not affect general health and never claim any essential nutrients from a day’s diet. I have learnt this now, and I hope you will be able to learn from my experience and not from yours.
How My Weight Loss Diet Changed My Life

No, this is not one of those juicy commercials meant to sell some product. I will just tell you about a man that used to lack self-confidence and was pretty much loosing everything because of that. I simply want to let the world know that weight problems do affect in serious ways the everyday life and the persons that we become. Even if there are happy fatties around, I was not one of them, probably because the fact that I was pretty fat was affecting every aspect of my personality. And because I’ve had my share of medical problems because of all that extra weight.
I am 31 and still have been experiencing hypertension for years, high cholesterol levels and even shortened breath sometimes. I used to smoke in my “youth” so I mostly blamed all these problems on that. I’ve never been a skinny child, but after I quit smoking 6 years ago I begun to gain more and more weight, until I reached a dangerous limit of 260 pounds. Because I’m a man, this might not seem like that much for some, but believe it is. Because I was eating wrongly and didn’t consider losing weight at no point, I was also having some problems with bone density, my bones are quite un-heavy compared to normal bone weight, all because of the fact that obese persons usually have problems with calcium absorption.
The thing that made me consider a weight loss diet was my fiancé. Two years ago, I was in danger of losing my job because of my extreme delay in finishing tasks. I am a graphical designer, so most of my work is sedentary, this also helped the gaining weight process. Over time, I begun to feel more and more tired and had trouble waking up in the morning, and staying at work for as long as I should’ve been. I was constantly on medical leave, as I wasn’t feeling up to the task of going to work and being creative once more. Live pretty much sucks when you are feeling sick and can’t quite put your finger on what’s wrong. This is when my fiancé thought she should jump in and help me. She moved in, and I didn’t even have to ask. She isn’t one of us, the persons with weight problems, but still she dedicated all her extra time to find out what was wrong with me, why was I feeling so tired. Even if she only browsed web pages and I was pretty unsure of the truth in things she was reading, she came to me with pretty sensitive approaches, and finally suggested a weight loss diet that she would also take, so I wouldn’t feel excluded. I stopped her of course, because she weighted merely 95 pounds. Why would she need to lose weight for ? She’s already thin enough.
She explained then that the thing she wants to suggest is not a real diet. I mean, if you are not having weight problems, you will not lose weight. And in the end, it’s all about calorie intake for specific weights. My body, being heavy and weighing many pounds needed much more calories than hers to maintain all the cells fed properly. If she was to eat as much as me, she would gain weight. So we needed a middle solution, which could maintain her weight and cause me to lose some. I was already thinking at water-like soups and days on end with troubling hunger sensations, and when she said the diet “will never end” and that it is a thing “to do forever”, I was already thinking of backing-up strategies.
So, my weight loss diet transformed into a life style over night. Based on her discoveries, she said we needed to wake up early mornings and start jogging before having any breakfast. No more late night work for me… I was hard, so we went and bought a puppy. The fact that it needed to be walked motivated us to wake up every morning. So, daily exercises were the first step.
Then, the actual weigh loss diet alimentary program begun. After trying several diets, we decided they were too restrictive to become a life long habit. I really don’t know how some people can survive on seeds and water… Finally, she was ready to give up the search when I weighted myself. Well, after two troubling months I was already 20 pounds down, and we hadn’t even chosen a diet yet. The exercises were the ones doing a good job. This is when we agreed that we don’t need to exclude aliments and to starve. We did manage to stop eating fat cheese and meat, and also to forget about sodas and cookies every night.
But in truth, my weight loss diet is just a healthy way of living. Eating correctly and counting calories proved a good thing if you are eating good quality calories. If I only eat fruits vegetables and fish I can consume huge food quantities every day…they are all low on calories. And if they are not cooked, it’s even better, because I feel more energetic.

What is a diet pyramid anyway? Basically the diet pyramid encompasses the research-based food guidance system developed by Department of Nutrition, Ministry of Health or Department of Agriculture. You can use a diet pyramid (or food pyramid) to create a healthy eating plan. The pyramid is flexible enough for everyone to use. When using a pyramid though, it is important to keep in mind that you should use one that is based on the latest and best science.
It is based on the latest science, and it is not affected by businesses and organizations with a stake in its messages. That’s why the Health Eating Pyramid is a simple, trustworthy guide to choosing a healthy diet. “Its foundation is daily exercise and weight control, since these two related elements strongly influence your chances of staying healthy. The Healthy Eating Pyramid builds from there, showing that you should eat more foods from the bottom part of the pyramid (vegetables, whole grains) and less from the top (red meat, refined grains, drinks with sugar.” (quoted from the Harward.edu website).
This is how the healthy diet pyramid looks and this is what more and more people are following for their healthy eating habits.

3-fold Natural Diet Plan
May 1, 2009 by health
Filed under Diet Plans, Health and Fitness Plans
There are quite a lot of diet pills and products out there which really only distract us from the basics simply because we get caught up in the lure and high promises of these supplements. Not surprisingly people are really excited about those pills. I mean, if you can lose twenty pounds just by eating a couple of pills, who would need further diet and exercise? Nevertheless, it still stands that if you base your weight loss program only on these snake oil type of products, you will never really lose any real weight forever. So these kinds of supplements shouldn’t be treated as substitutes for natural weight loss, which is the real healthy approach. Your focus should only be on diet and exercise, and definitely not on these diet pills!
There are a few things you need to do:
- Check your diet: It is true what they say that you become what you eat. If you’ve noticed the health of those who eat burgers regularly, or maybe that of your friends who often push you into going to a fast food restaurant, well what do their bodies tell you about their health? Think about it: when you eat fatty foods, how does your body react to them? Unless you are prepared to cut down on sugar, fat and processed foods, you won’t be able to lose any real weight.
- Cardio Exercises: A combination of keeping an eye on your diet cardio exercises is really the way to go. Cardio exercises come in several forms, for example stair climber, running on a treadmill, biking, rollerblading, etc. You really need to incorporate these cardio exercises into your weight loss program simply because they help you burn that fat faster than you’d otherwise! They also get your heart pumping at the proper speed, and not only that but also conditions your body to any heavy amount of workload. Have you ever got tired while lifting weight, running for miles, climbing the stairs or simply walking? The cardio exercise will help to adjust your body to these types of activities in no time!
- Resistance training: There is a third part to your diet program. Along with checking your diet and cardio, you should also do resistance training. Actually, resistance training is even better than cardio exercise, because along with helping with you burning fat, it also builds up your muscles. And let’s face it, the more muscles you have, the faster you will be able to burn fat. And isn’t that the ultimate result you are seeking? There are different types of resistance training, such as as yoga, weight training, etc.
If you want to properly lose weight then all you need is follow the three-fold plan described above. For any of the above components should be missing from your diet plan you might not be able to lose as mush weight as you really intend to! Further more, remember that weight loss pills aren’t called “supplements” for nothing – they are supplements to your natural weight loss efforts. Which means, although they can be very helpful in helping you with your diet efforts, they shouldn’t be treated as substitutes for diet and exercise at any time!
Top 3 Diet Plans Reviewed

There are plenty of diet plans for helping you lose weight, and maybe that is the problem. Because, how do you know which one to choose from teh many available? Life was so much simpler before: there was one, or maximum 2 and you picked it – or maybe picked both, but you didn’t have to wade through 25 different programs, try each out for a week, just to decide on the best one for you.
The job is already done, you still have to choose but only between the top 3!
- The South Beach Diet – this is one of the most popular diet programs around. Created by Arthur Agatston, a cardiologist who lives and works in Miami, Florida, this diet focuses on permanent weight loss by encouraging good eating and exercise habits.
The South Beach Diet is contained in three phases. The first phase is quite restrictive. It basically restricts every food listed high on the glycemic index, such as bread, cereal, grains, anything with flour, and starchy vegetables. Of course, if you are one of the people who aren’t too fond of these foods, you’ll find this stage a smooth ride.During the first phase, you can eat meat as long as it’s not fried. Skinless chicken, beef, turkey, and fish are fine, as long as it’s baked or broiled. As usual, you’re encouraged to eat plenty of fresh vegetables. You can drink water, tea, and coffee as much as you want. Many people who used this diet, and really followed phase one without deviations, said they lost up to 10 pounds during the first two weeks.
The second phase of the diet is much easier. You are allowed to eat more foods, but in moderation. You should eat lots of fruits and whole grains during this phase. It lasts the longest, simply because you’re supposed to abide by it until you’ve lost the desired amount of weight. So for instance, if you want to lose 20 pounds, you stick with phase two until you lose those 20 pounds. Once you’ve lost that amount of weight, you start phase three. This is the phase where it becomes more of a way of life rather than a diet. Basically this is where you set your the eating habits that will last a lifetime. You should eat three small meals a day, with snacks in between each meal.
- The Medifast Diet – The Medifast 5 & 1 Plan allows you to eat 6 meals per day, our of which five must consist of Medifast products. The sixth meal can consist of regular food that you usually eat. You can eat the meals in any order you choose, as long as you have all the 6 means. So for example you can have four Medifast meals, the plain meal, and then another Medifast, that’s ok. Not everybody is happy with the prices for thse means, simply because you must have 5 Medifast meals per day and that is not cheap. Prices for the meals range from $140 for two weeks worth of food to $275 for four weeks worth of food. However if you have the cash to stick with this mean, do it, it’s highly recommended and it brings quite strong results.
- The NutriSystem Diet Program – The NutriSystem diet program is a whole weight loss system. It’s not intended for quick weight loss. With NutriSystem you need to buy their pre-packaged food. They recommend purchasing a month’s worth of food at a time, so that you won’t run out in the middle of the month, and youhave plenty of time to order more before the end of the month.Although there is quite a nice selection of food, some people who’ve used the NutriSystem diet complain about the taste, or that the menu isn’t diverse enough to keep the diet interesting. Other people say the NutriSystem diet is good for a short term period because else you’ll get bored with eating the same food all the time. Nevertheless, this is a matter of opinion. If you’re interested and want to try out NutriSystem, don’t let the reports of bad food change your mind. I think best is to see for yourself before deciding. There are plenty of folks whom are quite happy with it and got really strong results, despite the sometimes lacking taste of the package.
There you you have 3 top diet plan choices voted by consumers the last few years. Try the one you feel more drawn to and stick with it for a while. Don’t give up at the first opportunity. However, if you discover that it’s not for you, try the second one. However in most of the cases, no matter which plan you try, you will find that you will get good results with it. Usually people’s instincts are quite good at picking what’s best for them the first time around.
